Soo Toon can certainly lay claim to being a citizen of the world. In a career that spans over a period of twenty-three years, he has often ascended to positions of great influence within organisations that see him responsible for their overseas expansion into the region and beyond. His natural aptitude and familiarity with market environments, together with the exposure and experience that he has gathered from his international corporate conquests, have been pivotal in atomz’s development. His role in helping our company to progress, from a budding local enterprise to a creative and brand consultancy agency that has continually made waves and won praise on a global platform, is undisputable.

An accountant by training, Soo Toon’s professional development in the field of corporate financial management was a natural, and highly successful, one. He began his career as an accountant for an international accounting firm, performing audits for a wide range of clients that include major banks and multi-national corporations (MNCs) from various sectors. He was quick to extend this career path by moving into a supervisory role at an American MNC retailing chain, Duty Free Shop, in the years that followed. This quick ascent in the gruelling industry is sure proof of his firm grasp of management systems and know-how.

Soo Toon’s capabilities, however, go beyond this specialised scope. Appointed the role of Regional CEO of the Pico Group of Companies in 1988, Soo Toon revealed a strong competence for general management and strategic planning. Equipped with natural leadership and remarkable foresight, he played an active role in the organisation’s turnkey communication projects. These included the streamlining of the structure of the mammoth organisation as well as the implementation of management and operational controls. Such versatility and visionary efforts have enabled the affable man to constantly reach great heights in his career.

Soo Toon’s experience with overseas markets began with his position as the Vice President Operations at Pico in 1993. Alongside his responsibilities as COO, he put his business acumen and management skills to the job, fronting strategic projects to expand the Group’s presence into all four corners of the Asia-Pacific region. It was a role that he would reprise with fortitude at an established customer relations firm later on in his career. This, together with his appointment as Executive Director of the Pico Group during his time at the organisation, is testament to Soo Toon’s capabilities in the area of management and strategic planning.

With years of travelling and the visiting of various markets around the world, Soo Toon has become keenly attuned to all forms of local culture. This understanding is crucial as he spearheads atomz’s regional expansion. Combining empathy with professionalism and a good dose of business expertise, he was the driving force behind the establishment of our first overseas subsidiary, atomz creative pt, in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Despite the drawbacks and challenges that he constantly faces in his role as regional director of atomz, Soo Toon never fails to work with pride and optimism, and success. We are proud to have this citizen of the world be a member of the atomz team.
